  1. A New Year’s Resolution to Stop Drug Abuse: … At least all is not lost and progress has been made in other areas. There is the good news of the continued gradual decline in the use of illicit drugs by teens. 2. Narconon Continues Expansion in Eastern U.S.: Narconon East U.S. has had a very successful year in drug rehab, prevention and education. The way to stop drug addiction before it starts is through effective drug education. The Narconon program, which was established in 1966, delivers drug prevention and education presentations to schools, community groups and businesses. As research statistic show that many new drug users begin at the age of 12, Narconon focuses its presentations on school-aged children and over 3.5 million children have been reached. Narconon presentations are unique from ordinary drug education talks because the drug prevention specialists reach the children at their reality level and get them participating, as well as learning about the dangers of drugs.
  3. >Addiction Treatment Provided by Pill Mills Concern Many: Mary Rieser a certified chemical dependency counselor and director of Narconon of Georgia drug rehabilitation center says, “We can’t just cover up addiction with a dependency on pharmaceuticals. Addiction is about behavior and taking one pill in substitution of another is not a change. We need to provide effective addiction treatment programs not more medications.” (News report from Narconon of Georgia)
  4. New Drug Rehab Approach Has Success: The Narconon Drug Rehab Program is designed to not only get a person off drugs and feeling well, but to return them to society as productive and ethical individuals. To do this the program takes into account several factors for comprehensive relapse prevention. The program reduces drug cravings by fully cleansing the body of drug residues, and assisting the body in healing itself after the scourges of drug abuse.
  5. Efforts to Combat Drug Addiction Reconsidered: Unless there is a dramatic increase in the availability of drug treatment for those already hooked, the plague will only continue to spread. The passage of legislation to address the problem is a step in the right direction but it is not the final solution. Narconon of Georgia provides drug treatment and education for the entire southeast region. Narconon Drug Rehab of Georgia is a non-traditional drug abuse treatment program.
  6. Marijuana | Users Experience Addiction Withdrawal Symptoms: “Marijuana is generally not considered an addictive drug,” comments Mary Rieser, Executive Director for Narconon Drug Rehab. “Studies and interviews with people who are habitual pot smokers and have come to our drug rehab have shown all the signs of withdrawal: irritability, restlessness, headaches, depression, and cravings for the drug.” Marijuana use is often described by users as ‘recreational’ and ‘non-addictive’. These same substance abuser* will, however, experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop using marijuana, this study shows.
